The big box store at Â鶹´«Ã½ Heights Boulevard is remodeling its store and extending it with a 4,500-square-foot expansion for a new online pickup department, according to city of Â鶹´«Ã½ permits.
The city approved an electrical permit on June 12 for the interior remodel and the expansion of the pickup area. It also received a plumbing permit on June 11 to update water, waste and vent pipes and new fixtures, according to the city.
Jackie Cain, administrative manager for the city’s department of development and design, said customers now pull into a slot and wait for an employee to bring out their ordered items. The new 4,500-square-foot pickup area will be built where the order pickup area is located, she said. The pickup area will be further out in the existing parking area, Cain said.
In addition, Walmart also is doing some cosmetic work to the interior of the store, Cain said. She said shelves have been consolidated to other areas to create wide open areas for the contractors doing the work to be able to stage in.

The location was the longtime home of Hursey’s BBQ. The former building has been demolished.
A May 14 post on the Honey Hog Restaurant Facebook page said whole hogs and pork ribs will be cooked on the old Hursey brick pit with wood-fire coals shoveled under them. It said beef ribs and brisket, as well as smoked wings and half chickens will be smoked on-site.
