Kimbrell’s Furniture in Â鶹´«Ã½ will be moving back to its previous home that was flooded during Hurricane Helene.
Store Manager Lola Preston said the store will be moving back to 915 W. Union St., Morganton, in the Mimosa Hills Shopping Center. She said they are hoping to be back in the shopping center by mid-August or September at the latest.
“It just really depends on how quickly they finish the work inside the building,†Preston said.
Like many of the businesses that were flooded during Helene, the location had to be gutted and is in the process of being rebuilt inside. The flooding forced the furniture store to close and then temporarily move into Alpine Mill, off East Fleming Drive in Â鶹´«Ã½ in December.
“We’re excited. Our customers are excited,†Preston said. “And it’ll be nice to have all the merchants back in the same shopping center again.â€
The big stores and businesses that called Mimosa Hills Shopping Center home have reopened in their former spaces, including Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and Planet Fitness.

Preston said she is grateful to the owners of Alpine Mill who allowed Kimbrell’s to use the location until the furniture store could get back to its former location.
“We’re very thankful for our customers sticking with us and through the difficult time,†Preston said. “We’re looking forward to seeing them and serving our community, which we’ve done for years.â€
