Michael Bumgarner took another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Leapfrog Lawncare and Landscaping Late Models feature on June 7 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Bumgarner started the 100-lap feature in the top spot with Landon Huffman starting to his outside. Bumgarner and Huffman battled door-to-door for the first nine laps before Bumgarner finally nosed ahead. Huffman, along with Blayne Harrison and Thomas Beane would ride in Bumgarner’s tracks waiting for their opportunity to pounce.
Beane took that opportunity on lap 29 and Harrison followed a lap later. However, Bumgarner pulled back into the lead after a caution. From there, he set the pace at the front of the field. Beane matched Bumgarner’s lap times over the closing laps but couldn’t close the gap.
Cody DeMarmels led off the night with a wire-to-wire win in the first of two 25-lap Heritage Finance Street Stocks features. He started second in their final feature of the evening, but pulled ahead of John Reynolds on lap five to sweep the evening.
Second-generation racer, Keelan Harvick, topped the time trials for a 35-lap Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models feature. He fell back to a third-place finish in his first full-bodied race at Hickory Motor Speedway. Aiden King took an early lead in that one and drove on for the win.
Sheflon Clay took a 75-lap Carolina Pro Late Model Series race and Jordan Cook outran Steve Smart to win in the Renegades division.
