Shirley D. Causby, 87, of Morganton, N.C., passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1937 in Chesnee, S.C., to the late Robert Hayes and Addie Elmore Hayes. Shirley was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and especially planting flowers. She was a great cook and loved to bake. Shirley was a great supporter of the American Legion Baseball Post 21 since it began. She loved watching her sons and grandsons play sports.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl M. Causby; son, Anthony "Tony" Causby; brothers, Donald Hayes and Arlen Hayes; sister, Lois Henderson.
She is survived by her son, Tod Causby (Leah); daughter-in-law, Karen Causby; grandsons, Ty Causby (Brooke) and Tripp Causby (Beth LeCroy); sister, Joyce Keller; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special feline companion, Babe.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Salem United Methodist Church. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m., in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or to Wake Forest Baptist Health ALS Research Center, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
